A fully equipped trailer was a key component of the club’s Trillium-grant support project to provide emergency and public service communications in York Region. The trailer was unveiled to the public at the recent York Region Emergency Preparedness Fair in Newmarket on May 7th, 2013. Policies governing the permitted uses of the trailer and procedures for its operation have also been drawn up by the board of directors and the trailer committee.
The trailer is the culmination of many hundreds of hours work by club members, and the funds provided by both the club and the Ontario Trillium Foundation. The York Region Amateur Radio Club supports the citizens of York Region by providing communication support for outdoor fundraising events like walkathons, bicycle races, and parades, in addition to vital backup communications in times of emergency or disaster. If your organization could benefit from having competent volunteers provide communications for your event, please get in touch with one of our team leaders.
For public service communications for community organizations, please contact our events director.

APRS in the Communications Trailer
YRARC now has an APRS beacon for the communications trailer thanks to VE3EB. The system will beacon only when the trailer is active as VE3YRA-9.
