Bring that old TNC out of the cupboard

    in ARES Technology Research

Interested in making use of that old Packet Radio TNC that you have shut away in a cupboard?

Then find the PSU, find those cables and get it fired up and let's build out packet radio around the GTA again. If you don't have a TNC, then there is free software available that works identically.

There has been a resurgence of interest, especially for use with Winlink.

Excellent. 144.930 is the York Region frequency for packet activity. Yes, you are correct, they can easily co-exist.

I am currently running a Winlink RMS on 144.930MHz in lower Richmond Hill which seems to be working well on 1200bps packet. And yes, I know they can all co-exist on the same frequency! The intent is to use 144.930MHz at the EOC in Newmarket once we can get back into the systems after COVID.

I have been running a node, DX Cluster and BBS's in one form or another for that past 28 years. I removed the RF ports years ago due to lack of use. Perhaps I should add the 144.930 port back? For those who wish to see what I have running please take a look by telnet at ve3cgr.dyndns.org port 8010 Please note that you will need a password to access via telnet. If you would like access please email me your call and your choice of password via email and I will set you up. ve3cgr@gmail.com Ron VE3CGR
